COMING HOME TO BROADOAKS PARK

Simon and Nanette, as well as being happily married for 33 years, both enjoyed a long and successful career in the hospitality industry. This took them frequently overseas, culminating in 15 action-packed years based in Dubai.

It was in 2019, and Simon’s final contract was nearing completion, so the couple started to search for their final forever home back in the U.K.  They had agreed on certain priorities; it would be in Surrey, a county they knew well, in an area that had good public transport links, as their daughter, a talented architect, lives in London. Also on the wish-list was to be close to good shops, and finally, it had to be a new build. They were not interested in taking on a renovation project, they wanted a perfect home from day one.

Browsing on the internet, Nanette spotted Broadoaks Park, and they both agreed, this could be exactly what they are looking for. The location was excellent being within easy walking distance of West Byfleet station and local shops including a Waitrose in the town centre, and of course it was a new build development.  They were familiar with the Octagon brand, having seen many of their prestigious homes and developments online.

When the pandemic hit in early 2020, everything ground to a halt. It was lockdown in Dubai just as it was throughout the world, travel was prohibited and people stayed in their homes except for essential shopping.

Simon and Nanette were still determined to pursue Broadoaks Park, and in 2021, whilst the world was still in lockdown, they filled in the registered their interest online with a view to reserve a home at Broadoaks Park. This started a conversation with one of the Octagon Sales Team, often via Zoom which they found very helpful. But understandably, they were reluctant to put down a deposit until they had visited the site in person and looked at the available plots. However, during this time, still living in Dubai, they established close links with the team, receiving videos of the plots shortly to be released, so they could get ready to choose and reserve as soon as they were allowed to travel back to the UK to visit the site.

This happened in August 2021 when they could tour the site and see first-hand some of the completed homes which had already been sold. The Stampers were impressed with the Octagon quality and design, the spaciousness of the rooms, and not least, the location.  Then and there, determined to have their own Octagon home, they paid the deposit to secure a plot. There were just 4 available to choose from, and with the Sales Teams continued support, they selected their ideal plot and eventual home, a 4-bedroom detached house with garage, in a prime position overlooking the green.

In October 2021 with build of their new home underway, they exchanged contracts, and completed in January 2023. So, the New Year started off well, and only got better for the Stampers, when they finally returned from Dubai in July and moved straight into their new home at Broadoaks Park.

“We found the whole buying and moving in journey very straight forward” commented Simon, “as the entire Octagon team, from sales through to aftersales, were fantastic. Laura Armstrong the Aftersales Client Liaison and the in-house maintenance team, oversaw any issues and queries we had. We also worked with the in-house interior designers, Octagon Interiors, for curtains and blinds, which were installed and ready before we moved in”.

Simon and Nanette conclude, “It was a great time to move in, coinciding with a Broadoaks Park Residents’ Picnic on the green which Octagon hosted in July.  It was a great opportunity to meet other neighbours, as well as the Octagon Group CEO, Tim Banks. We are enjoying being part of our new and thriving community, and particularly, loving the life in our Octagon home”.
